FUNTOOSH FAIR – “Salaam Namastey”
Celebrating south Asian Independence Day
August 14 & 15, 2010 at Ontario Place.

A truly multicultural fun oriented fair for all ages and genders of the community, celebrating the south Asian Independence Day of India & Pakistan. As we know that more than 60 years ago two great nations were born out of one motherland, known in today’s world as India & Pakistan.

Here in Canada, together the community is known as “Desis or South Asians” and live together in the adopted land of opportunities and have recognized themselves as proud Canadians.

August 14 is the Independence Day of Pakistan and August 15 is the Independence Day of India and we are proud to organize the grand celebrations at the landmark venue “Ontario Place” located on the waterfront of Toronto at Lakeshore Blvd.

As the eventful celebration goes on, we have made a mix of performing guest artists from Bollywood-India & Pakistan to blend with a score of homegrown local talent within Canada.

The activities and celebrations include:

• Classical music concert.
• Bollywood music concert.
• Little Champs from India Musical Concert.
• Fusion of classical and jazz music concert.
• Treasure Hunt.
• Fancy Dress Competition.
• Painting Competition.
• Regional film festival from India.
• International Premiere for Bollywood films.
• DJ performances and dance competition.
• Traditional and ethnic fashion show

Expected Attendance: over two days of event we expect more than 15000 South Asians to visit Ontario Place in addition to routine 20000-30000 mainstream Canadians over the weekend.
